Chart of the Day:Explicit Support for Same-Sex Marriage by State and Age” (pdf) by Jeff Lax and Justin Phillips of the Department of Political Science at Columbia University. Created using data collected for a joint paper on gay rights.

Prof. Lax breaks it down:

Seven states cross the 50% mark overall as of our current estimates, but the generation gap is huge. If policy were set by state-by-state majorities of those 65 or older, none would allow same-sex marriage. If policy were set by those under 30, only 12 states would not allow-same-sex marriage.

Wow. I guess this shouldn’t be so surprising, but it’s crazy seeing it all laid out like this.

Sita Sings The Blues is a full-length animated feature film by Nina Paley. Luckily for all of us on the Internet, this award-winning musical retelling of The Ramayana (one of the great ancient epics of India) is now available online for free through a Creative Commons Share Alike license.

New York LED Subway signage. This is amazing but if it was introduced in London, someone would probably just scrawl a cock on it. (via Big Spaceship)

Most things that don’t exist in London would just have cocks scrawled on them if they did.

These are awesome though, saw them there last week, so useful! The stations move down as you go so you can even see how many more stops until yours. It also alternates between ‘Next stop’ (whilst moving) and ‘This is’ (when at a station) and shows you where the route started and will end.

You get an A+ for usability and design subway people.
